About Ryde Water Polo Club

Welcome to Ryde Water Polo Club - one of Sydney’s longest running and most community driven water polo clubs. From our youngest junior athletes taking their first shot in the pool, through to experienced senior and representative players, the Rhinos are united by a passion for water polo, teamwork and club spirit.

Our Coaches

Ryde Water Polo is proud to have experienced and passionate coaches who focus on player development, teamwork and creating a positive culture.

  • Erkin Shagaev — Head Coach, Men & Junior Men
    Olympic, World and European Champion with extensive international coaching experience.
  • Yvette Higgins — Head Coach, Junior Women
    Sydney 2000 Olympic Gold Medallist and a passionate advocate for junior athlete development.

Our coaching team is supported by dedicated volunteers, team managers, referees and committee members who help create a strong and connected club community.

Ryde Water Polo is powered by volunteers and built on community spirit. Parents, players, coaches and supporters all play an important role in helping the club thrive.

We believe water polo is more than just a sport — it is about confidence, resilience, friendships and belonging. Our goal is to create “water polo players for life” by providing an environment where every player can learn, improve and enjoy the game.
